Company

Practical control over the AI that shapes your organisation

Octopus Core is an Australian AI technology company. We build the infrastructure, governance and delivery systems that let organisations adopt AI without surrendering control over their data, software or decisions.

Why we exist

Traditional software often creates dependency: proprietary formats, closed infrastructure, data lock-in and AI decisions that cannot be audited. We think organisations should not have to give up sovereignty to benefit from advanced AI.

Mission

To give organisations practical control over the AI systems, software and data that shape their operations.

Vision

A world where organisations can benefit from advanced AI without surrendering sovereignty, accountability or human judgement.

How we work

Founder-led, engineering-first, and based in Sydney. We prefer verifiable claims and inspectable systems over hype, and we build for the long term.

How we engage

We work per engagement, starting from the outcome you need and scoping honestly against it. Rather than promising a fixed product for every situation, we assess your environment, data boundary, and governance requirements first, then agree what is realistic. This keeps expectations grounded and lets us say clearly what is in and out of scope.

  • Start from the outcome, not a feature list
  • Assess environment and data boundary per engagement
  • Agree scope, including what we will not attempt

What we will not do

We will not sell uncontrolled autonomy: our platform keeps humans in the decision seat by design. We will not lock you in through your data, your models, or your evidence — those remain yours. And we will not overstate what the technology can do, claim certifications we do not hold, or describe status as capability.

  • No uncontrolled autonomy — model proposes, human decides
  • No lock-in on your data, models, or evidence
  • No overstated claims or borrowed certifications

The Australian context

We are an Australian company, and we take a sovereign view of AI: organisations should be able to run capable AI while keeping control of their data, their decisions, and the record of what was done. That perspective shapes how we build — favouring governance, deployment within your boundary, and auditable evidence over opaque automation. It is a general stance about control and accountability, not a claim about any particular jurisdiction’s approval.

  • Sovereign view: control of data, decisions, and record
  • Build for governance and in-boundary deployment
  • A stance on accountability, not a jurisdictional claim

Operating principles

Eight principles

Sovereignty

Organisations keep practical control over their data, software and decisions.

Governance

What AI can see, decide and do is bounded by policy, not left to chance.

Portability

Applications and workflows can move across supported environments.

Evidence

Important actions produce inspectable records, not just explanations.

Human accountability

AI proposes and assists; people and organisations own the decisions.

Privacy

Sensitive data is detected, controlled and kept where it belongs.

Provider independence

Use multiple, private or local models — not a single locked-in vendor.

Real-world execution

AI works inside real workflows and systems of record, not isolated chat.
